The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) has launched a “Clean and Green Campaign” to inspire residents to protect the environment by adopting a clean and green lifestyle.

The initiative forms part of reforms to keep the region and its capital, Kumasi, clean and green.

Speaking at a launch in Kumasi on Tuesday, 11 December 2018, the Regional Minister, Mr Simon Osei-Mensah said his office has constituted a regional committee to supervise the implementation of the campaign in all the 43 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs).

He said an additional sanitation committee will be constituted at the various MMDAs to oversee the ‘Clean and Green Campaign’ in their jurisdiction.

The minister told Class News’ Maxwell Attah in an interview that the Regional Coordinating Council is providing “seed money” of GHS100,000 to support the campaign.

Mr Osei-Mensah admonished the residents to change their attitude towards sanitation and open defecation to help the region achieve the goals of the campaign.
