794 new COVID-19 cases take Ghana’s toll to 31,851 with 28,438 recoveries

Accra, May 27, GNA- Ghana has confirmed 153 new infections of COVID-19, bringing the country’s total case count to 7,117, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has said on its portal.

The GHS latest update on Tuesday also confirmed 220 new recoveries, raising the country’s total recoveries to 2,317.

Two more patients have, however, succumbed to the disease, bringing the death toll to 34, leaving the country with 4,766 active cases.

The Greater Accra Region continues to be the epicenter of the virus in the country, accounting for 5,008 out of the total case count.

The Ashanti, Western and Central regions follow in that order with 1,085, 344 and 337 cases, respectively.

Eastern Region – 108
Western North Region- 62
Volta Region-. 59
Northern Region- 36
Oti Region- 26
Upper East Region- 26
Upper West Region- 22
North East Region- 2
Savannah Region- 1
Bono Region- 1

The Ahafo and Bono East remain the only regions with no confirmed case of the disease.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Health Service has deployed a team to the Western Region to help contain the spread of the disease, amid concern that it is becoming the new epicenter with the high cases being recorded in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis and the Tarkwa Municipality.
