The place of abode for police officers in Ghana has been a major concern over the years. However, these concerns appears to be a night day wonder. Some of the building these officers live for work lives much to be desired.

Police Officers in Awutu Breku in the Central region are living in a dilapidated building that was built about a century ago.  The building is in a state of collapse; Iron rods in the building can be seen, roof torn apart and the steps to the building in near disintegration.

Adom fm morning show dwaso nsem, reports that when it rain, officers do not fetch water outside because their rooms would be filled with enough water due to torn roofing sheets.

Moreover, the story was not different from Kasoa. The police officers lives in a deteriorating compound house and some in rented houses.

The problem seems too gargantuan to the extent that police stations around those areas even lack a place of convenience (toilet). When the officers have to attend to the nature’s call, some of them especially the men goes to the ‘bush’ and the women, joining a public toilet queue.

Some of the officers speaking on anonymity said, ‘If there were enough work in this country, they would have applied for different work’ as reported.

This has impeded the movement and operations of the officers in fighting crime in these communities.
