The VOAYGG wishes to commend the voters, observers, relevant stakeholders for the peaceful conduct of the elections on Monday December 7, 2020.
We are concerned about reports of pockets of post-electoral violence which have culminated in the damage of properties and injuries however we make a passionate appeal to the Ghana Police to round and apprehend saboteurs who breach the regulations that embody the peaceful and serene state of Ghana. Whilst at it, we note with grave concerns the following issues;
- Greater Accra: There was a moment of misunderstanding at the Odododiodoo Constituency which resulted in clashes between supporters of the two leading political parties leading to
injuries and death.
- Greater Accra: It was reported that 4 people including a police officer sustained injuries during the collation of results on December 8, 2020.
- Bono East: 2 people were reported dead, and 4 people were injured during a shooting incident.
- Northern: In the Savelugu Constituency. 3 people were injured during a jubilation in the community and a police station recorded strings of shots when people besieged it. Here is the full opinion of VOAYGG
